The Best Treatments for a Bee Sting

Bee stings are incredibly common and have happened to nearly everyone. You are not alone.

Below are step-by-step instructions on what you should do in the event that you have been stung by a bee.

  1. If you are in an area with many bees, try to get away from there. It is scientifically proven that bees often come to help other bees.
  2. Remove the stinger. You can do this simply by pulling the stinger out with your fingers, you do not need tweezers or something sharp.
  3. Apply an ice pack to the sting to reduce pain and swelling.
  4. For pain, take a Tylenol, Advil or your preffered brand of minor pain reliver.
  5. You can find fairly priced bee sting swabs or creams at your local pharmacy. These are pharmaceutically engineered to be most effective.
  6. Take an antihistamine or apply hydrocortisone cream to the sting to reduce chance of reactions and to reduce redness and swelling. Calamine lotion has also been shown to be effective when treating bee stings.
